Rising Stars graduates Kahlil is gearing up for a tour with American comedian and actor Cedric the Entertainer.
Having placed second to Cameal Davis in the Digicel Rising Stars competition in 2008, audiences haven't seen or heard much from the Montego Bay-based group.
Speaking with THE STAR recently, Blane Whitford from Kahlil explained that the group would be leaving out on Wednesday to embark on a brief tour with Cedric. He said, "our first stop will be in Miami, we're doing four shows with him in all. Our manager is based in Miami and he works closely with the KMH group which is a production company and they have the link to what's going on over there and arranged it."
According to Whitford, he and his group mates are excited to be going on tour. "We're very excited, this is Cedric the Entertainer, a king of comedy. He's excited himself and looking forward to it, he loves everything Jamaican," he said. Cedric the Entertainer is best known as the co-star of the WB sitcom The Steve Harvey Show, he also appears in the Barbershop films, and as one of the four comedians featured in the Spike Lee film The Original Kings of Comedy.
Outside of the tour the group will soon be releasing the video for their latest single Your Gonna Be Sorry, which was shot in Miami and California. Also in the works are two new songs, All About You and a cover of the hit Lady In Red. The once five-member group is now down to four members - Nicolo Cuvilie, Delvan Brydson, Wayne Gooden and Blain Whitford, after Shane Bedward left over a year ago. According to Whitford, Bedward left the group due to a "difference in opinion".
Despite this Whitford says the journey for Kahlil since the competition has been a good one. "It has been great, we've met a lot of people including stars from here and overseas. We've been approached by great producers so its been overwhelming."
As well as touring, Kahlil is also working on their debut album to be released soon.
